African Leadership Academy (ALA)

Project: Anzisha Prize

Amount: $9.2 million

Countries: South Africa

Expand the Anzisha Program for youth entrepreneurship in Africa and provide ongoing training, support and mentorship to Anzisha Prize applicants and 125 Fellows.

Serve 300 young entrepreneurs through the Youth Entrepreneur Support Unit (YES-U) program and 150 educators through the Educator program.

Project: Beyond Education / Africa Careers Network

Amount: $13.0 million

Countries: Pan - African

Support 85 academically talented, yet financially disadvantaged students in completing a university education, while fostering their leadership skills and their capacity to give back to their communities.

Create an internship and careers network that will support approximately 350 of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars.

Amount: $26.7 million

Support 300 academically talented, yet financially disadvantaged students in completing a university education, while fostering their leadership skills and their capacity to give back to their communities.

Generate and build the capacity of recruitment partners in Africa to identify and place students in reputable universities.

Amount: $1.2 million

Extend the reach of the Africa Careers Network to African university partners and Scholars (500) and strengthen the capacity of secondary education partners.

Support 10 scholarships per year for five years to enable economically disadvantaged young people from across the African continent to attend ALA.

Enable high-potential African youth, specifically Mastercard Foundation Scholars and ALA graduates, to access transformative early-career opportunities that can accelerate their leadership development and impact in Africa.
