Baobab Wins Award for Design Innovation

Fast Company awards Honourable Mention to Baobab, in the 2017 Innovation By Design Awards

Baobab, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Community platform, was awarded honourable mention in the social good category of Fast Company’s 2017 Innovation By Design Awards. Baobab was one of 10 projects receiving honourable mention from more than 2,500 entries. Created through our partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), Baobab provides a curated learning environment that embraces online learning, mentorship, and social network tools. Baobab is unlike any other tool in the educational technology landscape.

ASU and all partners in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program share a commitment to make education more accessible, and a desire to help students use their education to benefit their communities. We chose to work with ASU to develop this social network because the university continues to innovate and pioneer new technologies that will enable Scholars to connect with each other across more than 50 countries that they call home.

Fostering and inspiring the desire for lifelong learning for both current and alumni Scholars is a key feature of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. By embracing the power of many and connecting through the platform, Baobab provides all Scholars with access to mentorship, increases their employability, and enhances their social impact.
