Finmark Trust

Financial Inclusion

Improve the design and delivery of financial services to poor clients

Finmark Trust is focused on making financial markets work for the poor by promoting financial inclusion in Southern Africa. This project will improve the ability of at least 11 financial providers to develop improved products and services. The project will create a premier client data and research site that enhances an understanding of client preferences and behaviours. The platform will address inadequacies of current client datasets, including ease of accessibility, geographic cover and consistency in quality. This partnership expands to The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and UK’s Department for International Development. The Bill and Melinda Gate’s Foundation will measure and map gaps in client demand for financial inclusion. DFID will provide resources to scale this project through its network of financial service providers in Africa.
