Learn, Earn and Save Report

Research Highlights the Challenges Facing Young People Who Are Trying to Get Ahead

Learn, Earn and Save, a Mastercard Foundation initiative, was established in 2011 to provide economically disadvantaged young people in East Africa with market-relevant training and opportunities to access jobs or start small businesses. In partnership with CAP Youth Empowerment Institute, Swisscontact, and Fundación Paraguaya in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, the initiative has piloted three different approaches. This brief, released in partnership with the University of Minnesota at the Young Africa Works Summit in Kigali, summarises key findings of a five year study focusing on the Learn, Earn and Save initiative.
