The scholarships will cover tuition, books, uniforms and stipends for students who are academically gifted yet economically disadvantaged, enabling them to complete their secondary education. The program is also supported by UKaid. Wings to Fly was launched by Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki. The President was joined by Reeta Roy, President and CEO of The MasterCard Foundation and Dr. James Mwangi, CEO of Equity Bank and Chairman of Equity Group Foundation.

Recognizing the important social, economic and behavioural impacts that access to tailored savings and asset-building tools have on youth's opportunities to prosper, YouthSave - a consortium of youth and microfinance focussed NGOs - today launched www.youthsave.org. YouthSave.org is an online resource dedicated to the experiences and research of the YouthSave Project, as well as broader information on youth savings accounts around the globe.

$3.6 million innovative partnership will benefit communities in Kenya and Uganda

Kansas City, MO – Water.org and The MasterCard Foundation have launched a $3.6 million partnership to bring clean drinking water and sanitation services to people in Sub-Saharan Africa over the next four years. This partnership will enable one of the largest WaterCredit initiatives to-date and is anticipated to mobilize over $15 million of additional commercial and social capital into the water and sanitation sector in these countries.
